Journey to the sacred island of Shankhodhar Bet Dwarka via the monumental Sudarshan Setu—India's longest cable-stayed sea bridge. Managed seamlessly by Dwarka DMC, a unit of KV Tours Pvt. Ltd.
Situated in the Gulf of Kutch approximately 32 km north of Dwarka, Bet Dwarka (also called Shankhodhar Island due to its conch-shell shape) is revered as the personal residential palace of Lord Krishna and his royal consort Queen Rukmini. It was here that Krishna warmly received his impoverished childhood friend Sudama and gratefully accepted his offering of simple flattened rice (tandul).
The 500-year-old Bet Dwarkadhish Temple, built under the guidance of Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya, houses a sacred idol believed to have been sculpted by Queen Rukmini herself. The island also features shrines dedicated to Lord Krishna's eight queens, the Hanuman Dandi temple (where Lord Hanuman met his son Makardhwaja), and Dhingeshwar Mahadev.
Until recently, visiting Bet Dwarka required waiting in chaotic ferry queues at Okha Jetty, which was subject to tidal disruptions and rough weather. The opening of Sudarshan Setu—a 2.32 km long, 4-lane engineering wonder constructed at a cost of nearly ₹980 crore—has revolutionized pilgrimage travel.
